I cant help you there, i rarely touch the surfaces pane unless im applying uber shader to older content.
If doing a full, clean reinstall. Its worth it to note there are settings/config files in your APPDATA direction. (C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D)
