OP, it's doubtful that analog is more common than digital in art these days. I work with artists and they are all either 100% digital or some of them sketch something in pencil, scan it, then finish it in Photoshop. Having layers and an "undo" command is just too powerful.

Having said that, there are guys who will tell you that you should work on paper, with ink, no eraser, etc... because it forces you to commit. Getting too dependent on always being able to redo everything can make you soft.
