Im in a pickle /3/, Im on a team remastering an old game from the early 2000's, we've been in development for a few years and we want to get it out and done. Right now im fighting the urge to import the model and trace the damn thing. I fear that it will stunt my growth since id be tracing a mesh and not modeling it freely. I just finished up with my deadlines and im doing extra work while I await some new ones, what would you guys do? Trace to get it done or take some more time and model it only using ref images?

The Blender symbol is right in the middle of this guys chest.

WHAT does the Blender symbol mean!? Is it a representation of the all-seeing eye, incorporating the 3 pillars of Christianity (the father, son, and holy ghost)? A Masonic takeover of our fundamentals disguised as traditional religion?

Is Blender good to modeling/make games/animate?
- Blender is open source, and you can use it for free.
- I've been practicing low poly with it and is easy as hell.
- You can program in Python with it, and create games (I don't know if this language is great tho).
- You can also animate with it.
- I have it downloaded on Steam, so it updates automatically (I think this is important).
It feels like an all-in-one program, sounds great!
Do you have any ideas and/or comparisons?
Is it possible to just do everything with Blender? (and maybe Photoshop to create textures?)
I am just wondering if there is something more convenient and/or easier.

I'm having a problem with Blender.

When I hit Tab to change from the Edit view or the Object view (or viceversa) my model always has something different between the two.

For example it has some vectors in object view that are not in edit view.

How do I solve this? It's driving me insane.

/3/ what is a good blender book for modeling? I'm a complete noob at 3D modeling so I suppose good book will be more helpful to get me started, than to search for random tutorials.

Any of you Blender users have experience with the Lynda tutorial videos?

Are they missing anything major? Is there a better tutorial set I should be using?

On the other hand, if I use Maya, would I find a LOT more tutorials?
