i'll just list off the tutorials i referenced. these are on cgpeers:

this is in chinese but if you just want one tutorial this will take you through the whole process this is it.

i mostly just used it to see the maya/zbrush exchange workflow + the intro to mari

the hair workflow here is actually pretty decent i think (first time i'm grooming so i'm not really sure what's wrong or right yet).

the skin albedo/diffuse is imo using the wrong resources here. there are proper albedo maps available now so i used those instead. he doesn't really do a roughness map either and i think his subsurface map methodology is probably wrong as well.

for shading skin in arnold my only reference is arvid scheinder on youtube.

this guy seems to know what he's doing when it comes to x-gen and has good production credits. there are two other tutorials by the guy available on cgp (search Tarkan Sarim) but they use x-gen interactive vs old x-gen. i have no idea which one i 'should' be using. i might sub to his patreon for a month and just rip all his videos.

projected in mari. be warned, don't do commercial work with pirated mari. desu i might roll back to their trial license because i don't actually need 8k/udim tile.

rendered in arnold (randomwalk v1 for SSS). first project in ACES colour space as well.
